Best Birthday Chocolate Cake Recipe

It's your child's birthday and you want to surprise him/her with that special treat-a really great tasting chocolate cake that is sure to be a hit with his friends. Just check out those 2 chocolate cake recipes for your kids' birthday

Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour
60g/21/2oz ground almonds
225g/8oz good quality dark chocolate (at least 70 per cent cocoa solids), broken into pieces
225g/8oz butter
6 free-range eggs, separated
50g/2oz soft brown sugar
grated orange zest (optional)
175g/6oz caster sugar icing sugar, for dusting

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.

2. Grease and line the base and sides of a 20cm/8in loose-bottomed or clip-sided cake tin with greaseproof paper.

3. Sift the flour and almonds into a large bowl.

4. Place the chocolate pieces and butter into a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water, making sure the water doesn't touch the base of the bowl. Heat while stirring from time to time, until melted and smooth. Remove from the heat and allow cooling slightly.

5. Separate the eggs into two large bowls. Add the brown sugar to the bowl with the egg yolks and whisk together for a few minutes until frothy. Add the flour mixture, melted chocolate and grated orange zest, if using. Fold lightly to mix, using a large metal spoon.

6. Whisk the egg whites until soft peaks form when the whisk is removed. Gradually add the caster sugar and continue whisking until stiff peaks form when the whisk is removed.

7. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the chocolate mixture. Pour the mixture into the cake tin.

8. Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes, or until crisp on top and squidgy inside. Test the cake with a cocktail stick or skewer - it should come out a bit sticky, but not wet. Allow to cool on a wire rack - the cake will sink but that's ok. Carefully peel the paper off when the cake's cold

9. To serve, dust the cake with icing sugar and cut into slices.

Cinnamon Coffee Cake Recipes

The mere mention of "cake" makes my mouth water and I am sure this is the case with a lot of other people too. So if you like cakes and love baking too this page is just the right place for you!

Cinnamon Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients

4 Eggs
10 milliliter of Vanilla extract
500 grams of Flour (all-purpose)
6 grams of Salt
225 grams of Butter
460 grams of Cream (sour)
550 grams of Sugar (white)
9 grams of Baking Powder
5 grams of Baking Soda
180 grams of Walnuts (chopped)
15 grams of Cinnamon (ground)

Procedure

First preheat the oven to a temperature of 350 degrees. Then grease a 10 inch tube pan lightly. Once that is done, take a large mixing bowl and cream together the butter with 2 cups of sugar. When it turns fluffy, add the eggs and vanilla one at a time taking care to beat the mixture well after each egg is added.
Next mix the baking powder, baking soda and flour. Now alternatively add the egg mixture and the sour cream and beat. While doing so, beat only enough to keep the batter smooth. Now combine the remaining sugar with cinnamon and walnuts.
Once the above steps are complete; spoon 1/3 of the batter into the prepared pan. Then over it sprinkle 1/3 of the walnut mixture. Ensure you repeat this layer 2 more times. Put this into the oven and bake it at 350 degrees for 70 minutes. When it's done, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes after which remove the pan and let the cinnamon coffee cake continue to cool on a wire rack.

Apple and Cinnamon Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients

A can of Apple pie filling
½ c. Water (hot)
⅔ c. of Sugar (powdered)
1 tablespoon of Milk
2 c. of Baking Mix (Bisquick)
¼ to ½ a teaspoon of Cinnamon (ground)
¼ teaspoon of Nutmeg (ground)
2 tablespoons of Pecans or Walnuts (chopped)

Procedure

First heat the oven to 400 degrees. Once that is done, mix the cinnamon, nutmeg along with the pie filling. Then add the baking mix and hot water until the dough forms. Now beat using 20 strokes.
Next, turn the dough onto the surface which has been dusted with baking mix. After that, roll the dough gently in baking mix in order to coat it. Now knead the dough 60 times and roll into rectangles measuring 14 x 10 inches.
Now transfer the rectangular pieces of dough onto the ungreased cookies sheets. Take care to reshape gently as you do. Next spread the pie filling lengthwise over half the dough to within ½ inches of its edge. Now moisten it with water. Use the remaining dough over the pie filling and crimp the edge using a fork.
Once that is complete, bake the dough until it turns golden brown in color. This should take about 23 to 25 minutes. When it is done, let it cool for some time. Then mix the powdered sugar and milk until it becomes smooth. Spread this mixture over the warm apple and cinnamon coffee cake. Now sprinkle the nuts over it.

Cinnamon and Raisin Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2 Eggs
A teaspoon of Salt
2 ½ cups of Flour (all-purpose)
¼ cup of Butter (melted)
2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
A cup of Granulated Sugar (divided)
1 ¼ teaspoons of Baking Soda
5 tablespoons of White Vinegar
1 cup of Milk
½ a cup of Raisins
¼ cup of Shortening (melted)
½ a cup of Nuts (chopped)

Procedure

To begin combine the butter, cinnamon and ½ a cup of sugar until it turns well blended and then set the mixture aside. Now take a large bowl and sift the flour, salt and baking soda in it along with the remaining cup of sugar.
Now take a medium bowl and beat the eggs in it. Next add the vinegar mixture and mix it well. Once that is done, blend in the shortening and raisins. Now pour this mixture into the flour and stir until it gets moistened.
Next spread half the batter into a greased baking pan that measures 8 inches and sprinkle half the cinnamon mixture over it. Now top the mixture with the remaining batter. Use a knife and draw it through the batter many times in order to distribute the filling. After that, sprinkle the nuts and the remainder of the cinnamon mixture over the batter. Put the batter into an oven at 350 degrees for a period of 15 minutes. Take it out of the oven when it is ready, cut it into squares and serve the cinnamon and raisin coffee cake warm.

Cinnamon and Sour Cream Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients

4 Eggs
3 cups of Flour
A teaspoon of Salt
2 teaspoons of Baking Powder
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
A cup of Butter or Margarine
2 ¾ cup of Sugar (divided)
2 teaspoons of Vanilla
2 cups of Cream (sour)
2 tablespoons of Cinnamon
½ a cup of Walnuts (chopped)

Procedure

First take a large bowl and cream the butter and 2 cups of sugar in it until it turns fluffy. Now add the eggs, only one at a time and beat well after each one is added. Next combine the baking powder, baking soda, flour and salt.
Next add the mixture alternatively with the sour cream and beat the batter after each addition. Once that is done; spoon 1/3 of the batter into a 10 inch greased pan. Now combine the cinnamon and nuts with the remaining sugar. Spread this over the batter and repeat this layer two more times.
Once it is ready, bake the batter at 350 degrees for about 70 minutes. When it is ready, cool the cake for 10 minutes in the pan and then remove it and let it cool on the wire rack. Serve when the coffee cake is completely cooled.

2 bars of Violet Crumble (50 grams, crushed)
75 grams of Marshmallows (white and chopped)
2 bars of Flake Chocolate Bars by Cadbury (30 grams, crushed)
2 packets of Maltesers Candy by Mars (crushed)
1 container of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream (each)
Hundreds and Thousands of sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

First put the chocolate ice-cream and flakes in a large bowl and then put it aside. After some time, beat the ingredients with a wooden spoon until the flake becomes well combined. Once that is done, put the ice cream and flake into a 23 cm round pan.

Now smooth using a spatula and then cover and freeze until the contents becomes firm.

Next take clean bowl and put vanilla ice cream and maltesers in it. Once that is done set it aside and allow it to soften. Now beat it until it is well combined.

Now remove the pan in the freezer from the freezer and then sprinkle the violet crumble over it. After that take the vanilla ice cream and maltesers mixture and smooth over it. Freeze the ingredients until it becomes firm.

Once the above steps are complete take the strawberry ice cream and marshmallows and repeat the steps. When the ice cream cake is ready to serve, carefully remove it after decorating it with hundreds and thousands of sprinkles.
